In some ways it seems like forever since I've been in the classroom, and in other ways
it feels like yesterday. I can remember exactly where my students were, learning wise,
when we finished our Kindergarten year. So stepping into my 1st grade classroom will
be surreal as it will be a totally different group of kids, different community, heck, even
a different state. I can't wait to see what I have to work with. I don't even care if there
is nothing. I started with nothing once and I can do it again. I can't wait to see what
resources are available at my school so I have a better idea of what I'm going to need
to come up with before school begins....
The most important thing I bring is an appreciation for being in the classroom again...
A genuine love of children and how they learn. A deep desire to get to know my
students and parents. And an ability to use whatever resources I have to create the
environment we need in our classroom. With ideas swimming in my head I head
into the veritable unknown. A school in Vegas with a classroom of babies excited
to start 1st grade. And a teacher who can't wait to see them....
